OUR STORY

Bright Weights was born in 1999 out of a deep passion for SCUBA diving and the ocean, inspiring a basic idea that would culminate into our unique weighting system, one that would allow divers to correctly weight themselves in the water. We have since won design awards all over the world including the SABS Industrial Design award in 1999 and the Palm d’Or (Golden Palm Award) at the International Underwater Film Festival for the best new diving product, among others. Throughout the years we have introduced exciting dive accessories to accompany the weighting system resulting in a full range of Bright Weights SCUBA gear which we love and continue to be passionate about.

With the desire for a new venture and challenge, an exciting range of functional training fitness equipment emerged in 2015. Thinking critically around functional training and versatility, our fitness gear caters to fitness beginners and top athletes. With the incredible move towards a healthy, fit lifestyle in recent years, we feel our fitness equipment sits on the cusp of this functional training revolution. Our flagship product the Crosstrainer, a three tier 6.5kg body weighting system provides unparalleled versatility, allowing it to be used across training and sporting and even normal daily activities. From there stemmed the remainder of the range which includes everything from a 20kg weighted vest to all-weather suspension trainers and skipping ropes. We currently have top athletes using our fitness gear including Hanneke Dannhauser (former OCR world champion), Brendon Groenewald (former EFC heavyweight world champion) and the Cape Cobras (Western Cape provincial cricket team) to name a few.

The Bright Weights team is passionate about quality, keeping ourselves challenged and excited with constant improvement and potential new products. We pride ourselves on being an honest and passionate team believing firmly in our excellent design and innovation in our products. All our products are designed and manufactured in our place of birth, beautiful South Africa.
